Tormented Demon: how to defeat it (Ironman guide)
Demons in the Ancient Guthixian Temple (after While Guthix Sleeps). They use all 3 styles (max 31) and pray against the style that hurts them, swapping every 150 damage. You need 2 styles (melee + magic or ranged), a slow weapon for when the shield drops and to dodge their fire bombs.

Mechanics: what hits you and what to pray
Demons in the Ancient Guthixian Temple (after While Guthix Sleeps). They use all 3 styles (max 31) and pray against the style that hurts them, swapping every 150 damage. You need 2 styles (melee + magic or ranged), a slow weapon for when the shield drops and to dodge their fire bombs.

Style switch
After every bomb it changes style: if it walks to you it's melee; if it stays, the distance style it didn't use before. Its first hit deals 75% less if you already pray against it.
Fire bombs
Every ~36s it binds you, disables run and throws 2 bombs: on your tile and on an adjacent one. You have 2 ticks to move (Ctrl+click to run) or take 40+. Fight in the open, not next to walls.
Fire shield
Cuts damage from non-demonbane, non-abyssal weapons by 20%. It drops after your first hit and after each bomb: that hit with a slow weapon (crush, crossbow on Accurate or a spell) gets bonus damage (+33 at 7 ticks) and fires at 4 ticks.
Defenceless
~18s in, its flames go out: 100% accuracy until your first hit after the bomb. Spec time (abyssal dagger, burning claws).
Step by step
- Guthixian temple teleport (1/12 drop) or games necklace to Tears of Guthix: go down with the light creature (lit sapphire lantern), climb the walls by the central skull and enter it.
- Pick a room: 1 demon (south-east plinth or north-west) to learn; 2 in the central chamber; 3 in the south-west only if you flick well.
- Start with melee (Arclight/Emberlight on stab) and Protect from Magic or Missiles. Your 2nd hit already lands with the shield down: deal it with the slow crush weapon (Dharok's greataxe, dragon 2h) then go back to your main weapon.
- Every 150 damage it prays against your style and pauses 6 ticks: switch to magic (Dark Demonbane + Mark of Darkness) or ranged without leaving combat. On every bomb: move, read its next style, pray and hit with the slow weapon.
- At ~18s it goes defenceless: dump specs. Demonic Offering with the infernal ashes and keep the Guthixian temple teleports.

Ironman tips
- 💡 Burning claw (~1/500) x2 = Burning claws, a cheap strong spec. Tormented synapse (1/500) makes the demonbane weapons (Emberlight, Purging staff, Scorching bow). No Dragon claws here: that's CoX.
- 💡 They count as greater demons: do them on task with a Slayer helmet (i). With 2 demons one uses melee and the other magic/ranged, staggered so you can flick; a 3rd only throws bombs, which explode even if you kill it.
- 💡 Shift-click on Walk here and highlight its hull: the clickbox shifts with the shield animation and steals your click when dodging. Blue Moon works for melee and magic and saves switches.
